Designed as a true extension of the home, this Hickory Hill Estates project transformed the backyard into a layered outdoor living and entertaining space built for year-round use. The custom covered structure features tall tongue-and-groove ceilings that add warmth and scale, while integrated ceiling fans and Bromic heaters help keep the space comfortable through changing Texas seasons.

Large motorized shades allow the covered living areas to be opened to the property or enclosed for added protection and comfort. A dedicated entertainment wall with an outdoor television anchors the main lounge, creating a natural gathering place for relaxing, watching a game, or hosting friends and family.

The project also included a long patio extension designed specifically for the grilling area. A fold-down shade was incorporated between the cooking zone and the motorized screen, helping protect the screen from the heat generated by the grills while preserving the openness and functionality of the space.

Beyond the covered structure, multiple levels of stone hardscape connect the lounge, dining, grilling and fire-feature areas while working naturally with the grade of the property. A connected pergola-style extension adds another architectural layer to the design and helps transition the structure into the surrounding landscape.

The result is a cohesive outdoor environment that feels integrated with the existing home rather than simply added onto it—combining shelter, entertainment, cooking, fire, dining and open-air gathering spaces into one complete backyard retreat.
