This Lakewood Heights project in Dallas, Texas was designed as a complete backyard transformation, bringing together a custom pool, covered outdoor living, entertainment, cooking, fire features, and recreation into one cohesive space. Working within the proportions of the existing property, Terrace created a layout that maximizes the backyard while maintaining a strong visual connection to the home.

The custom pool anchors the design with clean architectural lines, a raised integrated spa, expansive tanning ledge, built-in loungers, and a wide spillway water feature. Light natural-stone coping and paving carry throughout the pool deck and outdoor living areas, creating a bright, consistent finish that contrasts beautifully with the home’s existing brick exterior. Artificial turf surrounds the hardscape and transitions into a custom backyard putting green, adding another layer of functionality without sacrificing the polished aesthetic.

A substantial covered outdoor living structure extends from the home and creates a true year-round entertainment space. Stone-clad columns and walls complement the pool materials, while a warm tongue-and-groove wood ceiling adds richness overhead. The space incorporates a full outdoor kitchen with multiple cooking appliances, refrigeration and storage, along with a stone fireplace and mounted television that establish a central gathering area. Integrated ceiling fans, recessed lighting, speakers, and overhead infrared heaters make the space comfortable through changing Texas seasons.

The project also strengthens the connection between indoors and out. Large sliding glass doors open the main living area toward the pool, while a custom pass-through window and bar seating provide direct access from the interior kitchen to the covered patio. The finished result is a highly functional outdoor environment where swimming, cooking, entertaining, relaxing, and recreation all work together as a natural extension of the home.
